Joey, BCR’s Scottish Fold
By Jill Anne Sparapany
Meet
Joey! He is BCR’s only Scottish Fold cat. Not all Scottish Fold cats have the
folded ears, but Joey displays the lovable folded ears that make him look like
a “Grumpy Cat.”
In
2013, Joey came to BCR after being rescued from a cattery in Missouri. Many of
the cats in the cattery tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) or
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Fortunately, the person that rescued him
wanted to find a safe home for Joey and they flew him to BCR.
Joey
was very shy when he first arrived. He tolerated being handled and loved to be
scratched bbehind his ears. After his initial time in quarantine, he joined the
other cats in the FeLV+ room. Working with Joey has brought him out of his shyness
shell and he loves to play with the other cats and chase toy feathers with the
BCR staff.
Joey is
one of the cats in the room who will use the big exercise wheel. He has the
type of “workout” that all of us would love to do – he will walk on the wheel
for 15-30 seconds, then lays down on the wheel.
You can watch him
LIVE on Ustream http://ustream.tv/blindcatrescue on Monday's.
